In Tanzania violence, abuse and discrimination against girls and women are widespread due to patriarchal and traditional norms.

Two out of five women in the age between 15 and 49 have experienced physical violence.

10 % of women between 15 and 49 years have experienced forced sexual intercourse against their will.

Tanzania has one of the highest child marriage prevalence rates in the world. Almost two out of five girls are married before they have turned 18 years old.


Let’s stand up for women’s human rights to live an independent life in peace free from discrimination, violence and sexual abuse. For all women and girls in Tanzania, Africa and the world.
